Our Trust Charter

Independent journalism is only as strong as its credibility. Here's how we earn and keep yours.

📋 Editorial Independence
The Desi Andaz is funded entirely by reader support, small donors, and transparent sponsorships. No story is published, killed, or modified based on advertiser or sponsor relationships. Our editorial team operates with full autonomy from our commercial operations. This firewall is absolute.
✅ Fact-Checking Process
Every story published goes through a minimum two-editor review. Claims are verified with at least two independent sources. Documents are checked for authenticity. We publish corrections prominently and without excuses. Our fact-check desk also addresses viral misinformation that may not originate with us.
🔍 Source Protection
We protect every source. Always. Whistleblowers, RTI activists, and internal informants can submit material through our secure encrypted system. We never reveal sources without explicit consent, even under legal pressure. Our source protection policy has been reviewed by Press Freedom organisations.
💰 Funding Transparency
We publish our full funding sources annually. This includes reader subscriptions, grants, and all sponsorships above ₹50,000. We do not accept government advertising. We do not accept anonymous donations above ₹10,000. Our accounts are audited by an independent chartered accountant.
⚖️ Journalism Ethics
We follow the Press Council of India's norms as a minimum standard, and apply additional standards adapted from the Society of Professional Journalists code of ethics. This includes minimising harm, acting independently, seeking truth, and remaining accountable to our audience.
📩 Accountability & Complaints
If you believe we got something wrong, we want to hear from you. Our Public Editor reviews all editorial complaints independently. Upheld complaints are addressed with a correction or clarification within 48 hours. Contact: [email protected] with subject line "Complaint."

India Deserves
Better Journalism.

We started with a camera, a notebook, and the belief that truth — told honestly, without fear — is the most powerful thing in the world. That's still what drives us.

Our Mission

The Desi Andaz was founded on a single premise: that mainstream media had abandoned its primary responsibility to hold power accountable. Too many editorial decisions were driven by advertising revenue, political alliances, or institutional caution.

We set out to build something different — a platform driven entirely by public interest, where journalists could report without fear, where sources could speak safely, and where readers could trust what they read.

We believe India's diversity — its languages, its struggles, its stories — deserves coverage that goes beyond Delhi drawing rooms and corporate newsrooms.

Founder's Note
"We started Desi Andaz because we were tired of watching important stories go untold. Every day, India happens in ways that never make it to air. We exist to change that."
